The company was founded in 1789 and is the oldest Diamond company in the world. With its rich history in the Diamond Industy Backes & Strauss sets itself apart from other watch brands by the quality of Diamonds in each watch. Each diamond is cut to Ideal proportions "According to the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), less than 3% of all diamonds are cut to these ideal proportions". 

Other features that catch the eye are the Dials which undergo numerous processes to give them a three dimensional appearance. The crown on each watch is set with a Diamond that is table out, this means that it returns the largest amount of light back.
